I offer custom hand-painted Orthodox icons for churches, monasteries, and private collectors, ranging from small devotional icons to larger liturgical commissions. Every icon is individually designed and executed using traditional materials and techniques, with careful attention given to theological accuracy, artistic quality, and the specific needs of each client.
I am experienced in a variety of traditional and contemporary Orthodox iconographic schools and styles, allowing me to create icons that faithfully reflect the artistic heritage and aesthetic traditions of different Orthodox jurisdictions. Whether your parish follows a Greek, Russian, Serbian, Romanian, or other established iconographic tradition, I can design and execute work that is appropriate to its liturgical and artistic context.
In addition to my background in Orthodox iconography, I have extensive training in traditional academic oil painting, including portraiture, figure drawing, composition, and classical painting methods. This foundation informs my approach to iconography through strong draftsmanship, thoughtful design, and a deep understanding of form, color, and composition while remaining faithful to the theological and liturgical principles that define the iconographic tradition.
The commission process begins with a conversation about the subject, size, style, intended use, and any specific requests you may have. I am happy to answer questions, discuss prototype options, recommend appropriate dimensions, and help determine the best approach for your project.
Following our consultation, I will provide a commission agreement along with an estimate tailored to your project. Throughout the process, I strive to make commissioning an icon a straightforward and enjoyable experience while ensuring that every finished work reflects the highest standards of craftsmanship, theological integrity, and artistic excellence.
